friday madness newHello everyone and welcome to this week’s Friday Madness! This week, after the Comic-Con weekend, the world was invited to watch some trailers for the next season/year most anticipated movies. The world finally got the chance to know more about Nolan’s “Interstellar” in a powerful, intense and epic trailer… Peter Jackson also released at last the first teaser trailer for the up-coming finale of “The Hobbit” trilogy and Francis Lawrence showed something more substantial about the first part of “Mockingjay”. In the end, Nolan is taking the lead with a superb trailer that shows amazing visual effects and epic scenes. “Intestellar” is the story of a group of explorers that tries to surpass the limitations on human space travel and that conquers the huge distances involved in an interstellar voyage that could potentially be Earth’s salvation. From what this new trailer shows, Matthew McConaughey plays a man named Cooper and who has the unfortunate task to participate in one interstellar journey from what there could be no possible return. The magnificent visual effects we saw in “Gravity” return to theaters with Nolan’s vision of outer space. Cooper appears to be a more sentimental character than Ron Woodroof but from what I’ve seen from the trailer, McConaughey has done a pretty great job.

Apparently the McConaissance is still on the air and after Mathew’s amazing performances at “Dallas Buyers Club” and “True Detective”, could 2015 be his year again? We still have to wait for November to see Nolan’s movie.

Other great trailer that was released this week was the anticipated first teaser trailer for “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” in which we watch Bilbo, Thorin and the Dwarves in amazing action sequences. War is near and with it the end of the beginning. Could they reclaim Erebor and the treasure? In December we will know the answer for this question with the return of Sherlock and Watson to the theaters.

A new trailer for one of next season’s most anticipated movies, “The Maze Runner” was also released. The story of Thomas, a boy deposited in a community of boys and who can’t remember a thing, and his struggle to find a way out of that huge maze he’s trapped in. Is this another dystopian universe? I haven’t read the book and I don’t know too much about it but the trailer looks really awesome.

One of this week’s most awkward released trailers was the one for “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of the Water”. An animated movie that mixes two worlds: the world we know from SpongeBob SquarePants cartoons and the real world, and that stars names like Antonio Banderas and Tom Kenny. Does it look a bit weird at first? Yes, but I want to wait for more images before building my opinion. At the first sight, the trailer looks appropriate for the target audience so perhaps there is a chance of success for the movie.

The next two trailers that I want to talk about are from sequels. “Hot Tub Time Machine 2” is the return of the really funny comedy to the theaters. This time Lou, the “Father of the Internet” is shot by an assailant and Jacob and Nick fire up the machine to save their friend. A funny red band trailer released at Comic-Con that anticipates one of this year’s Christmas season movies. “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” also received a first trailer and a new poster. Apparently there’s still money to take from the cow and because of that, Ben Stiller is back alongside with Robin Williams to another adventure through the world we were introduced two movies ago.

For the final trailer of this week’s edition I picked one that was released just two hours ago. At last the first trailer for Disney’s up-coming musical adventure that stars huge names such as Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp and that is also the return of Rob Marshall, the director of “Chicago”, was released. “Into the Woods” is the story of a witch who conspires to teach lessons to characters of children’s stories like Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk. Although the trailer shows almost no substance, it’s great to watch Meryl Streep as a witch.

With nothing else to be said, I will leave you with the trailer for “Mad Max: Fury Road” released at Comic-Con. Remember to check on this Sunday’s edition of Must and thank you for following Panda’s Choice.
