Review: “The LEGO Movie” is the story of an ordinary LEGO minifigure, Emmet, who sees himself in the middle of one extraordinary adventure.  Emmet is an ordinary builder that like any minifigure who is living in the city just lives by following the instructions. The world is threatened by Lord Business and the only way to stop it is to find the Piece of Resistance according to a prophecy. The prophecy states that a person known as The Special will step forth with an army and bring an end to the tyranny of Lord Business (who possess the Kraggle).  After finding the Piece of Resistance Emmet is identified as “The Special” and with the help of Batman, Vitruvius and the rest of his friends he will have to fight against Bad Cop and Lord Business to save the world.

An epic adventure with amazing sequences entirely made of LEGO blocks, “The LEGO Movie” is a perfect movie to watch with the entire family. A movie that both grown-ups and kids will definitely enjoy. There are a lot of references of nowadays icons, from Star Wars to the DC Universe. The viewer is invited to a world of wonders that will bring everyone back to their childhood years. In the first part of the movie I thought that the story was being great and that after “Cloudy with Chance of Meatballs” and “21 Jump Street”, Christopher Miller and Phil Lord managed to direct another wonderful movie but it was only after the finale that I finally realized why this movie received so many good reviews.

“The LEGO Movie” ended up being like “Toy Story 3”, with a powerful ending that will give that touch of amazingness that you expected to watch. From the “Everything is Awesome” song to the amazing sequences and effects with LEGO bricks, this is movie is a must see for everything that it delivers. It’s a really special movie that will entertain you a lot.

For Portugal viewers, it’s really sad that we’re not allowed to watch the original version with the voices of Morgan Freeman, Will Farrell, Elizabeth Banks, Chris Pratt and Jonah Hill due to economic reasons (according to the distributor), but you may trust me that even with Portuguese voices the movie stands out and it’s really entertaining and it’s a way to support our actors. I will wait for the DVD release to watch the original version at home but for now, after months of waiting, I am satisfied.

Whether you watch it with your children, alone or accompanied with your friends or love ones, “The LEGO Movie” will please everyone and bring you almost two hours of awesome sequences and really funny moments. So if you intend to watch it, prepare yourself for a journey in a world where everything is awesome!
