Just 4 hours before the Oscars ceremony, here are the winners of this year’s “razzies” which were announced yesterday. In the ceremony hosted in Los Angeles, California, “Grown Ups 2” with 9 nominations ended up taking only one prize. Denis Dugan’s movie was nominated for almost every single category. Tyler Perry won the WORST ACTRESS prize for her performance in “A Madea Christmas”. She was competing against Lindsay Lohan (“The Canyons”), Selena Gomez (“Getaway”) and for “Movie 43” Halle Berry and Naomi Watts. Kim Kardashian (“Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Conselour”) won the award for WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS. Shockingly “The Lone Ranger” won the prize for WORST PREQUEL, REMAKE, RIP-OFF OR SEQUEL when movies like “Grown Ups 2” and “Scary Movie 5” were in the nominees list. I know that “The Lone Ranger” wasn’t great, but it was pretty enjoyable. I also don’t understand how the heck “A Good Day to Die Hard” wasn’t nominated in this category. The rest of the categories were evenly distributed between “Movie 43” and M. Night Shyamalan’s “After Earth”. “Movie 43” took home the awards for WORST PICTURE, WORST DIRECTOR and WORST SCREENPLAY. The other nominees for both categories were “A Madea Christmas”, “After Earth”, “The Lone Ranger” and “Grown Ups 2”. Will Smith and Jaden Smith took home the awards for WORST ACTOR, WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR and WORST SCREEN COMBO. It’s really funny to see how 13 Directors won an award for the same movie. This shows how great the movie must have been. But despite all this “funny” stuff, there is also a sad thing to be noticed here, M. Night Shyamalan, director of “The Sixth Sense”, “The Village” and “Signs” was considered several years ago as the new Spielberg and so far, the latest movies we’ve seen from him were kind of disappointing. It’s really sad the witness the decline of a director but the fact is that since “The Village”, “Devil” was the only movie in his directing career that managed to entertain me a bit. His 3 worst movies, according to the Tomatometer in Rotten Tomatoes are “The Happening”, “The Last Airbender” and “After Earth”, and their scores are pretty low. I truly miss the suspense of “The Sixth Sense” and “Signs” and I believe that we will find his way to be successfull one more time.
